Three new NAS devices from Synology: faster, cheaper and cost saving

Synology renewed three devices before big christmas sale what usually take place at the end of year. All three devices are for home, small or medium sized office and have hardware upgrades.

DS216se features a 800MHz processor and 256 MB of RAM, making it a feature-rich NAS for beginners. It also has upgraded feature such as scheduled power on/off letting usesr to further reduce its power consumption when the NAS is not in use.

As the successor of DS214play, DS216play comes with a brand new dual-core 1.5 GHz processor with hardware transcoding engine, and 1 GB of RAM. The upgraded processor enables DS216play to transcode H.265 4K videos. Making DS216play a most valuable multimedia-optimized NAS server from Synology, it became cheaper than previous model.

DS416 is a great upgrade from it’s predecessor DS414. DS416 features a 1.4 GHz dual-core processor with hardware encryption engine, 1 GB of RAM, dual LAN ports, three USB 3.0 ports and one located on the front for easy quick access.  The huge upgrade in hardware resulting 90% gain on encrypted file reading and writing compared to its predecessor.
