Synology sales grew by 10 percent
Home and office servers popularity in Baltics and Europe is growing fast. Simple, robust and secure server with many additional features is much needed among business and home users, this is confirmed by sales numbers from previous year.
Synology sales grew more than 10 percent in 2015. This means our market trends here in Baltics are moving to the same direction with the world.
„Synology sales growth has three main reasons: devices are cheaper, people know a lot more about backup and cloud solutions and average file size grows faster than data connection speed for uploading big files. That slows the use of remote cloud services and makes people to buy more NAS devices for local cloud,“ explained the popularity of local (office, home) cloud services and NAS Scalewireless CEO Ando Urbas.
Research company Research and Markets published predictions for next five years. According to predictions small NAS sales will grow over 14 percent during this period. Research and Markets provides the reason for such a rapid growth: people use NAS devices as secure media servers to share personal photos and videos to others. At the same time, small and middle size companies use more and more data and they need bigger storage systems. The solution is reliable NAS device for offices.
According to Scalewireless sales overview, the most popular device was two-bay DS215j last year. 4-bay DS415+ followed, and 1-bay DS115j was third. Synology DS215j was also Amazon bestseller in 2015. If we count 1- or 2-bay Synlogy NAS as home devices, we can see a clear indication that sales for private customers grew much more than business sales.
