DS215j, exciting 2-bay 2-core home cloud from Synology

Synology – SCALEWIRELESS’s partner in video surveillance and data solutions – will replace its popular homecloud model DS213j with the new DS215j. You can order it from the end of November.

The main technical specifications have been improved in two main aspects: the processor has an extra core and users have access to faster USB connection. One-core ARMv7 has been replaced with the new ARMv9 (turning DS215j the first 2-bay two-core cloud for personal use!). The predecessor’s two USB 2.0 connections have been replaced with one 2.0 and one 3.0.

General performance gain is noteworthy: support for ten IP-cameras instead of previous model’s five; recorded content is more seamless (up to twice the number of frames per second, depending on the resolution used); single-file robocopy performance up to 20% better.
