ADSL2+ router for business critical applications

Networking No Comments

LANCOM Systems, SCALEWIRELESS partner for high-end network equipment, launched new ADSL2+ router 1781A-3G for fail-safe site connectivity with cellular backup.

The LANCOM 1781A-3G has an internal UMTS/HSPA+ modem (up to 21 Mbps downstream and 5.76 Mbps upstream) and an integrated multimode ADSL2+ modem for ADSL connections of the type Annex A, B, J or M. It can be operated with any ADSL connection. With the combination of UMTS/HSPA+, ADSL2+ and VPN, the LANCOM 1781A-3G is perfect for businesses and branch offices whose productive operations rely on a connection to the Internet and company headquarters. The HSPA+ connection provides a cost-effective and powerful cellular backup to the wired Internet connection, for example to secure electronic payments in retail.

A new green Gigabit Ethernet switch provides power-saving functions according to 802.3az for energy-efficient networks, and allows for a fanless design of the device. Four user-configurable ports can be used for LAN, WAN (up to 4x load balancing with additional ADSL, SDSL, VDSL or cable modems), DMZ, VLAN, or monitoring. The high-speed USB 2.0 port powers USB media; it can be used for the connection of a network printer or storage media for configuration updates.

The ARF (Advanced Routing and Forwarding) function of the LANCOM 1781A-3G provides up to sixteen virtual networks, each with its own settings for DHCP, DNS, routing and firewall. ARF allows logically separate networks to be operated for different groups and applications on a single physical infrastructure.
The integrated high-security firewall with stateful inspection, intrusion detection, and denial-of-service protection screens the network safely and reliably from attacks from the Internet.
